Overview

On the night of his death, April 8, 1860, Count István Széchenyi is visited by a strange visitor in Döbling. The "Hermit of Döbling" is unexpectedly visited by the ghost of Lajos Kossuth. This surreal encounter brings the events of the nineteenth-century reform era to life. They fight each other with words and weapons. How did Széchenyi die? Was it murder or suicide? In this bizarre and extreme "otherworldly" light, they also shed new light on details of one of the most important and defining decades of Hungarian history.
